Getting There and Back
Fly
Flights to Longreach depart Brisbane daily, and other regional centres can travel by plane on non-direct routes. Bus transfers have been arranged for those flying into Longreach and staying at the Tent City in Barcaldine.
Drive
It takes approximately 12 hours to drive to Barcaldine from Brisbane, 6.5 hours from Rockhampton, and 7 hours from Townsville. Longreach is an hour further down the road.
Rail
The Spirit of the Outback travels between Brisbane and Barcaldine/Longreach twice a week.
Accommodation
Tent City in Barcaldine
This year, Outback Rowing has partnered with Tent City Hire for the solution to your accommodation needs. Located at the Barcaldine Golf Club, Tent City campers will be welcomed by the site crew and escorted to their allocated tent. A shuttle bus will run between the Tent City and the Regatta venues.

- Triple - 3 single beds (suitable for families)
TENTS INCLUDE
- Fold-up bed/s and mattress; you will need to bring your own bedding (sleeping bag or sheets, blankets & pillows, towels etc.) unless it is pre-hired for an additional fee. The pre-hired linen includes sheets, pillow case, pillow(s), blanket, donna, and donna cover (no towels or toiletries). The beds would be made up with linen prior to your arrival.
- The tents are carpeted, screened, and fitted with a 12-volt light.
- Plenty of hot showers and toilets are within the facilities’ grounds, along with soft external night lights.
- There is the option to hire tables and chairs for your tents for that added comfort.
Twin-share is ideal, allowing plenty of room for beds, luggage and easy movement within the tent. Families and groups can be allocated tents together, but it is necessary to mention this when booking. Regular patrons will attest to the convenience, warm, friendly atmosphere and cooperative staff that make this facility a popular alternative – these patrons have become friends over the years, and we look forward to catching up with familiar faces and adding new ones to our ever-growing Tent City “family”.

Local Travel
Buses are organised for airport transfers and travel to and from the regattas for those staying at the Tent City. If you are staying at other accommodation you are welcome to jump on the buses, just note where you want to be picked up in your booking. Bus bookings can be made via the Regatta Online Shop.
